Notes from Dr. Borkosky

what do evaporation lines look like

its so confusing!!

sorry to hear that - really am surprised though as getting a few evap lines in a row is very unusual. That looks like a line to me, looks very pink on my screen. The line should also be visible to the naked eye without the need to open the cartridge or anything like that. Going back to the test-strip; the 'pregnancy' line contains different molecules to the molecules of the 'control' lines; and the molecules in the pregnancy line/strip (the pregnancy test-assay) will only react – and change colour – in the presence of one other molecule; and that is the HCG hormone. Thanks, Thank you!

But it wont turn pink or blue. However, until the pregnancy stops, the woman will still be producing HCG, and may well have some of the other 'usual' symptoms of pregnancy (though some women have absolutely no symptoms for a considerable period of time), and; although the pregnancy may have stopped almost as soon as it began; it may still take a couple weeks or so for all the HCG in the body to be disposed-of via the urinary system. I truly have no idea if it was there before and I simply missed it because i was so tired and not looking closely enough. So the pregnancy stops.

The 'control' lines of the home pregnancy tests are assayed areas which are designed to react with specific chemicals commonly found in urine, and which, when detected, react with the chemicals in the control-line assays (strips/areas) and turn them a certain colour (pink or blue depending on the test used). Upload your photos, zoom in and use our photo tweaking tools! Moving on... sometimes fertilisation occurs and HCG is produced for a while, but for some reason, the body detects that the pregnancy will not be successful (not 'viable') and the fertilised egg ceases to continue to divide and develop. I would say you are pg as you are saying 'them' which means youve done more than one and you wont usually get more than one evap lines as they are fairly uncommon flukes - they are taking a while to come up because it sounds like you are very newly pg - congrats, eck??

However, in the event of carrying out a test – and the control lines change colour as they should, then the woman or couple is anxiously waiting (if they wish to have a baby that is) for the 'positive' or 'pregnancy' line to change colour too! Share with Nintendo - £100 voucher to be won, Do you have questions about the Green Homes Grant? Does it look different than what would normally pop up, blurry or in a different place than the expected line? x, i did. I am not sure if what I'm seeing is an evaporation line or not. I am just wondering because when i had my daughter I didn't go through any of this. However, if you do a test and you get the faintest coloured line in the 'pregnancy' test-strip/assay area on the test, then HCG has definitely been detected. An evap line is said to have no colour and be after the alted time fr a result. If you had cesarean is it because hips are too tight from wearing pants?

I will test in a few days to be sure but I thought others who had one pop up might know better than myself.

Arg .. so, I don't think the test sat long enough to be an evap, and I think I see color, but my FRER is def negative today... is Clearblue now more sensitive? A reasonable person would find this content inappropriate.

I am not sure if what I'm seeing is an evaporation line or not. Try again in a few days to be sure but i'm betting it's a real positive. Most tests say that the results aren't accurate after that time, and to throw the test out.

quite a few! It was fact plus. To use this feature subscribe to Mumsnet Premium - get first access to new features see fewer ads, and support Mumsnet.

Am I pregnant? This happened perhaps 10 seperate times (different months) and I was never pregnant at any point in those cycles.3 DC down the line I know now to avoid blue dye tests when initially testing for a pregnancy. So then, if no conception has occurred, then no HCG will be produced by the body, and therefore, no HCG will ever be found in the urine.

I am critically aware of the intense emotions involved when people are hoping or trying to become pregnant - and I hate to think of the emotional heartache and anxieties that these mixed or uncertain test-results can cause - hence the reason for taking the time to write this short article. If it was a pink line test, its possibly an early positive. Guaranteed. Filtered: Evaporation line. Congrats, Thanks for posting the article and congrats x. bumping this for anyone who is interested! line look like? within a few minutes) and an evap line is not visible til later. +/-? An evaporation line on a pregnancy test is a faint, non-colored line that may appear if a person uses the test incorrectly.

They generally don't do evap lines (I think) and are v. sensitive. I think it does make a lot of sense and hopefully helps people understand more! First response have gone down hill. Record your signs and symptoms.

What are evaporation lines and what do they look like? I also like superdrug's own early test - got a clear +ve on those at 10DPO when I was still squinting at the faint line on the FR... and they're cheaper. There are some evaporation lines that do have color—either a light blue or light pink. I am only 9-10dpo, so I will test again later this week. I also like superdrug's own early test - got a clear +ve on those at 10DPO when I was still squinting at the faint line on the FR... and they're cheaper. However, just like the wet tissue-paper we talked about earlier, if the area is simply wet with urine, the pregnancy strip may possibly turn a little 'grey' – like a 'shadowy' colour; but if there is no pink or blue colour, then no HCG has been detected. And indeed, the next tests proved that she was. Get your answers by asking now. This is page 1 of 1 (This thread has 13 messages.). However, if the right molecules are not present in the urine, then no other molecules can bind to the control molecules – and no colouration will occur – so the test will be 'void' – and another test should be done.
