Thanks to the extension of the Time Machine tour for a second leg in Europe, and the fact that they only had two songs completed for this ‘work-in-progress’, I was able to begin work early on, and continue for a full 22 months in preparing the art for this epic saga from Neil. This is the sort of record you spin when you want to just have a good time and not worry about super-technical progressive rock anthems. After the moderate success of Rush‘s first two records, the band made the ballsiest choice in their entire career: they ditched their old bluesy hard rock sound in favor of straight up progressive rock. Bob Ludwig and Brian Lee Rush has dabbled in new wave, electronic music, pop, reggae, and world music, the wide array of instruments all three employ redefining what a rock trio could accomplish onstage.
