characteristics of brokenness

Do I intercede on their behalf? 9. Could I confess that sometimes my acts of service are in hopes that I’ll get some praise and glory? In the aftermath of a breakdown of a personal relationship, I was challenged to rethink how I “showed up.” In the past, I might have become angry or upset, but instead, I needed to stop and acknowledge the other person’s feelings, which were surprising to me. 8. Brokenness is a sign of His love and activity in your life. ( Log Out /  Lack of forgiveness will eat away at you, turning you into a toxic person, so do whatever you need to do to release those bad thoughts and feelings. It’s not a word to use when you want to feel “authentic”. Today, I really want to hold onto what I read, and I find that writing is the easiest way for me to achieve that! God will never allow brokenness to crush you. Not my own! Brokenness. If you have experienced brokenness in your life, how did you “show up?” Are you okay with your responses? It is rock bottom. Lord knows, PMS and traffic congestion can bring on dramatic changes.

They tell you God has removed His love, but God will never stop loving you. ((What about your emotions that come out of nowhere? But do I reverence, encourage, and lift them up? Think about a life-altering experience that took you to a place of brokenness. So here goes….

It is not lovely in and of itself, it is not the end of the journey, it is not a cute hashtag to put on a picture of a dirty house. I’m talking in this post about brokenness from things like the loss of a job, personal failure the breakup of a significant relationship—the kind of brokenness where we often played a part or someone else made decisions or choices which hurt us deeply. 4. Is there anger that surfaces out of the blue? The kind we try to run from, forget or hide from other people.

It’s like one of those Chinese puzzles you put on your finger. UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF Seek to make others successful!!! You will be amazed how friends will rally around you. Perhaps remembering the outcome of the criticism (spiritual maturity) will be just the sugar that I need to help that medicine go down! Upon giving his testimony he said this, “The most wonderful thing about sin is that it makes you so desperate that all you want is God.” Yes, deep sin can make us desperate. We live in a fallen world. Jesus’ “yes” didn’t come easily. This is the enemy’s lie sent in an effort to cause you to become discouraged and give up. Brokenness stops at the point where your spirit yields to God’s will. A man I spoke with recently is just like that; he’s so hard to read, you never know what you’re going to get. When God said in Proverbs 13:15, “The way of the transgressor is hard,” no one was excluded from that principle – not even David, one of the greatest men to ever live; and in Psalm 51 we get a peek into that. Life is a journey we can travel together! Will you trust Him to change your life? There are so many more points that I could ponder, but this little brain can only take so much in one night!

(51:7-15). We must be delivered from our own self sufficiency and become completely dependent on the Lord. Anna Wishart is a graduate of Ethnos360 Bible Institute and continues to seek ways to be involved with missions through writing. It could even be a blessing we may not have sought on our own, but looking back we are so glad it came. He knows the end result of brokenness in your life and is committed to you experiencing all the blessings He has for you. ((Are you aware of a shift in who you are and how you are, one day “on,” the next day “off?” How does this look for you – can you describe it?)). It can mean a lot of things. So here goes…. No. As I read through the list, I thought that each one of them sounded like things that we all fall into occasionally just because we’re human. Now, I dislike accountability as much as the next person, but it usually takes two to have a disagreement—rarely just one. Brokenness, especially when caused by my own actions, reminds me I am hopeless apart from His grace. I’ve written about those types of losses in other posts—although God works in those times for good also. For some, it’s a reason to demand pity; for others, it’s motivation to stay “true to themselves” in their flawed humanity and not attempt to appear all put together in a nice, neat package. It may imply messiness and imperfection. I agree with the following insight from the late Wayne Dyer (author, speaker, and philosopher): “Who says it must take a long time to heal from brokenness? Brokenness brings me to my knees. Broken people are overwhelmed with a sense of their own spiritual need. No, the beauty in spiritual brokenness is found in where it brings us. We would love to answer any question you have or help suggest next steps on your journey. Brokenness is when a believer’s stubborn heart finally yields to God and says, “Yes, Lord.” I will do what You are asking me to do, no matter how much it costs me personally. It is humility that allows us to recognize, as David did, who God is and who we are in comparison with him. I would have blogged about earlier topics if I hadn’t been so busy or so sick.

Perhaps panic arose in David’s heart as he realized that Nathan was here to talk about his “secret” sin. David, the man we rightfully respect and look to as an example in our Christian lives, is a sinner. ( Log Out /  We would never ask for humility. Today, I really want to hold onto what I read, and I find that writing is the easiest way for me to achieve that! And out of that desperation, out of grief and the hurt of a fractured heart over sin, God longs to produce humility in us. What?!?

It’s not bad to keep and eye on things; but being so totally consumed to the point that everything else – everyone else – suffers, that’s not good. We see it in a man who says this: “The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. She currently lives in Winchester, Virginia, and enjoys biking, art, friends, the mountain views, and attending Fellowship Bible Church.

A man I respect had struggled deeply with a sinful lifestyle for some time. But this is about a pattern that is repeated and repeated. Another indication of brokenness is the “on again, off again” personality. Yes, I just wrote the previous sentence. ( Log Out /  Broken people reverence, encourage, and lift up those that God has placed in positions of authority, and they talk to God in intercession, rather than gossiping about the faults they see in others. You can discover a new path for living.

3. — Proverbs 29:23, Recently, I intended to read a particular book only to discover that it wasn’t on my bookshelf as I had thought! Brokenness is a place where there is no place to sink further, because that point has already been passed. — James 4:10, Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Instead I want to share with you a couple of the characteristics of broken people that made me think, “I want to be more like that!”. Hmm… This includes pastors, my husband, political leaders, law enforcement officers, my boss, and so many more. The harder you pull, the tighter it grips your finger. It is not within his power to right this wrong (51:16-19). We live in a fallen world. It is humility that sets us up to come to grips with our sin. Okay, the whole praise belongs to the Lord thing is sort of easy.
