Upon inspection the independent repair shop determined there is a hole in the piston cover causing the transmission fluid to leak from the vehicle.

So, check to make sure there are no damaged wires, corrosion on the plug.

I do have reverse and Low gears however, 1st and 2nd are not working. Transmission problems with 2002 Isuzu Rodeo.

If this is an electric shift 4wd, check to make sure the wiring to the 4wd actuator is working properly. I would have to pull off the to the side of the road, switch the engine off and on a couple of times before the fault would correct itself.

The Spark Plugs Were Also Changed. Dealership called & said there would be a problem with the powertrain warranty as I was not the original owner of the vehicle. Driving down the highway the Isuzu just went neutral, no gears, no noises, no fluids leaking. When this problem began, the vehicle had about 55,500.

After this occurred two or three times, I became concerned that this could lead to a serious safety problem and potential accident so I took the vehicle to an Isuzu dealer for repairs and they replaced the transmission mode switch and cleared the code for a total cost of $350.

I have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo ls with a six cylinder engine and a 2 wheel drive automatic transmission. However, this has not solved the problem the transmission is still leaking and I'm not sure is there would be any resolve with replacing the entire transmission. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. Problem was repaired under warranty but if this repair is becoming common and can result in complete transmission failure a warning should be issued to alert owners of this problem so the servo cover can be replaced before it's failure causes larger problems.
